New carbon nanotube-based foam promises superior brain protection

Under a PANTHER research project funded by the Office of Naval Research, UW-Madison Assistant Professor Ramathasan Thevamaran has led research to develop carbon nanotube-based foams that show promise for protective helmet liners.
The research was published in the journal Extreme Mechanics Letters with the title:
Superior mechanical properties by exploiting size-effects and multiscale interactions in hierarchically architected foams
