University & Industry Collaboration

At Team Wendy facilities in Ohio, the PANTHER team conducted testing of newly designed flexible hybrid electronic headbands consisting of multiple distributed accelerometers.

The headband was tested using a novel Hybrid-III torso drop test method we’ve taken to calling “DREW” (Dummy for Rotational Evaluation of Wearables).

The multiple accelerometers allow for compatibility with PANTHER developed algorithms which allow for kinematic estimation for arbitrary points within a head form. By comparing the processed data with data from instruments mounted within the Hybrid III head form, the team will be able to demonstrate the utility of a flexible sensing system with a user-friendly wearable form factor.

...and of course there was some time in the evening to enjoy a baseball game.
